A Statement from the American Nurses Association

The American Nurses Association (ANA) congratulates the nurses elected to Congress and celebrates the historic level of nurse representation in our nation’s legislative body. This milestone reflects the growing influence of nurses not only in healthcare, but in shaping the policies and decisions that affect people and communities nationwide.

ANA also recognizes and expresses its appreciation to the more than 15 nurses who ran for Congress this election cycle and the hundreds of nurses who ran for office at the state and local level. Their willingness to step forward and serve demonstrates the growing role of nurses in shaping public policy at every level of government.

ANA celebrates this historic representation and congratulates the nurse leaders who will bring the voice, experience and perspective of nursing to Congress and elected offices across the country.
